Spotting Transmission Repair Issues

Blog

It's always important to watch for signs of mechanical issues in your car. However, something you want to make sure you know the signs of is transmission problems. If you don't catch transmission problems soon enough, then it can cost you thousands of dollars in transmission repairs or replacement. The information below will cover quite a few of the signs that your transmission should be checked out right away.

There are new noises

Many car problems are first noticed due to the car making new noises, and the transmission is no different. Some of the types of noises you might start hearing if there is something wrong with the transmission can include humming, whining, clunking, or even very loud machine-like rumbling sounds. Also, if the car just seems to be noisier in general now, then this can mean there is a problem with the transmission.

The check engine light is on

The check engine light in a car can come on for many reasons. In fact, some cars seem to have check engine lights that are so finicky that the car owners get to the point where they ignore the light altogether. However, this isn't a habit you want to get into because seeing that light come on can also indicate that there is a problem going on with the transmission. If you take the car in and have the transmission problems caught right away when the light comes on, it can save you a lot of money and problems.

There is transmission fluid leaking from the car

If you are seeing transmission fluid on the ground where your car was just parked, then this is very telling. It lets you know that there is a transmission fluid leak that needs to be taken care of immediately. You can tell transmission fluid from other types of car fluids by its color, which is a reddish color. Another way to determine there is likely a leak is when you are needing to add more transmission fluid more often than you have had to in the past.

The transmission doesn't feel right

There are a lot of things the transmission can start doing when there is something wrong. Your car may have a problem changing gears, it could have a strong vibration to it when the gears change, the gears can end up slipping, or the pedal and gear shifter can feel and respond differently than what you are used to. If you notice any of the signs in this article, you should have the transmission checked right away.

I was surprised to find out that the random auto shop I picked provided immense support and excellent service. I will use this site to talk about the benefits of working with an auto shop and explore all of the services performed by these skilled professionals. Thanks for visiting.
